I Want to Give You a Job

My job! My current job, that is — VP Content at the newly reconstituted Vibe Media/Access Network.

What is this job of which you speak, you have not asked? I’ll tell you anyway. This job entails running content operations across four brands (Vibe, Uptown, Vixen, and BlackBook) across all platforms (web, mobile, print, anything else). It’s a high-touch senior management position that requires serious people skills, schedule and budget oversight, technological acumen, cross-cultural sensitivity, editorial insight, upward management, and the ability to seamlessly transform from good cop to bad cop as circumstances require.

The range of brands is likely to grow as we create and acquire new properties throughout 2012 and beyond. The total number of staff this position oversees is about 20, with probably five times that many freelancers in various roles. There are also several important relationships to maintain in other departments (sales, marketing, engineering). The total annual budget is now in the multi-million-dollar range. This is a serious job for a seasoned professional and not for the faint of heart. But the potential for growth and profound success in this job is actually greater now than ever before.

I’ve pasted the draft job descrip below, which may evolve with time. But for now, interested and serious parties may inquire with me at cmohney@blackbookmag.com.
